freq_out 10 is an immersive sound installation comprised of twelve individual audio works, each utilizing a specific frequency range – made on site and amplified to act as a single, generative composition. Occupying the spectacular half-built ruin of the Théâtre Royal – originally commissioned to house operas but left unfinished due to its idiosyncratic architecture – freq_out 10 will make use of the cavernous main auditorium and balconies, filling its raw concrete shell with a unique sonic experience. The venue will be enriched by twelve different sounds using a 24-channel surround sound system, engulfing the audience in a series of musical arrangements.

freq_out was formed in 2003 as a curatorial project by Carl Michael von Hausswolff. Its realization at the 5th Marrakech Biennale will comprise the tenth of a total of twelve installations. The project travels to Marrakech for special inclusion at the biennale, commissioned by Thyssen-Bornemisza Art Contemporary.
