Attacks upon the Western canon, humorous as well as virulent, shape the filmography of Gabriel Abrantes. The politically-correct has never been an impediment for his work, which is both ironic and iconoclastic. His narratives are invested with a spirit that, if not destructive, is at least revealing of the inconsistencies of bourgeois ideology within a 21st Century on the verge of moral and political collapse.
