The Journey's Sonic Diary is composed of ten tracks recorded between August 2020 and May 2021 by Rossella Biscotti and Attila Faravelli on the mountains near Carrara, Italy, on the coastline of Malta, and onboard the merchant vessel Diligence while navigating for the performance The Journey (May 21–23, 2021).

Rossella Biscotti, The Journey's Sonic Diary, 2020-2021 is commissioned by TBA21–Academy as part of Biscotti’s larger project The Journey.
The Journey is a long-term project produced by Rossella Biscotti in collaboration with Kunstenfestivaldesarts in Brussels, Blitz Valletta, and the 8th edition of Dream City Festival Tunis within the framework of the project Between Land and Sea. The performance at sea took place on May 20–23, 2021.
The project has been developed with: Blitz’s curator Sara Dolfi Agostini; project manager in Malta: Kristina Borg; GIS maps: Catalogtree; DOP: Cristian Manzutto; research in Tunisia: Emna Lakhoua; and in collaboration with Timmy Gambin (associate professor of maritime archaeology, University of Malta), Anthony Gruppetta (veterinary surgeon), and Nature Trust Malta, Aaron Micallef (associate professor of geosciences, University of Malta), Alarmphone, Lewis Baldacchino (operations manager, Port Logistics Operations Ltd), Elman Srl (Pomezia), Studi d’Arte Cave Michelangelo Carrara.

About the Artist
Rossella Biscotti’s (b. 1978, Italy/Netherlands/Belgium) cross-media practice cuts across sculpture, performance, sound works, and filmmaking. Stemming from extended research processes, conceptual excavations, personal encounters, interdisciplinary collaborations, and the subtle interrogation of sites and stories, her works encapsulate meticulous stratifications of materials and meanings. She has taken part in major international exhibitions such as the Dhaka Art Summit (2020) Dhaka, Bangladesh, Sonsbeek 23th (2016) in Arnhem, The Netherlands, 55th Venice Biennale, Italy (2013); 13th Istanbul Biennale, Turkey (2013); dOCUMENTA 13, Kassel, Germany (2012), and Manifesta 9, Belgium (2012). Recent solo exhibitions were held at Witte de With, Rotterdam, Netherlands (2019); Kunsthaus Baselland, Muttenz, Switzerland (2018), and V–A–C Foundation, Moscow, Russia (2016). Biscotti has received several international awards.

With the working title "Mediterraneans: ‘Thus waves come in pairs’ (after Etel Adnan),” the first stream of The Current III cycle is led by Barbara Casavecchia as a transdisciplinary and transregional exercise in sensing and learning with by supporting situated projects, collective pedagogies, and voices along the Mediterranean shores across art, culture, science, conservation, and activism.
